Primary Attendance
Attendance Matters: A Shared Responsibility for Success
Regular school attendance is essential for every child's learning, development, and future success. Attending school every day helps children build strong foundations in their education, develop social skills, and form positive routines. Missing even a few days can impact progress and create gaps in learning. We are committed to working together with families to support good attendance, ensuring every child has the best opportunity to thrive.

Late Procedures
Absence Reporting Process
Merchants’ Academy’s phone lines (0117 301 0805) are open from 8am. We expect parents or carers to notify us of an absence on the first day between 8 and 9 am. For extended absences, parents should call each morning unless a doctor's note specifying the period of absence is provided.
If a child is absent without notification, the attendance officer will reach out to the home to determine the reason. The officer may use all available contact numbers if initial attempts to communicate are unsuccessful or if there are concerns about the absence.
