Students requiring medication during Academy hours:

If your child has been prescribed medication by a GP and can attend the Academy but requires a dose of medication mid day, we are able to support you and your child but must follow the policy:

Please make an appointment to see one of our administering medication team who will require the medication to be in its correct packaging, labelled by a pharmacist. A care plan can then be written and followed for the duration that the medication is required.

We are unable to assist if medication is just sent in with your child or has not been prescribed by a GP.

Paracetamol for pain relief is not permitted unless prescribed by a GP.

Asthma:

If your child suffers from this condition and requires an inhaler, then we are able to support them during school hours. The policy is the same as above but we would like to keep a spare inhaler here at the Academy so that if your child forgets to pack theirs or is on an activity that takes them away from school we have their medication to hand.
