Behaviour Standards
Our belief at Merchants’ Academy is that the management of student behaviour should always be a positive process. Punishment contains behaviour – reward changes behaviour. The broad principle is based on our moral purpose: to treat students with respect in the belief that this will generate respect back, and will aid the generation of a civilised ethos and environment in which to work.
Merchants’ Academy Philosophy
What we believe we all need to do:
- Choose a positive attitude;
- Be there for each other (on time regularly and listen to each other);
- Make someone’s day and be the best that you can be;
- Respect adults and students;
- Make someone smile, be kind (they will be kind back);
- Work hard and have fun too (adults as well as students)
Merchants’ Academy Core Values
At our Academy we believe in the ‘Bristol’ values:
- Boldness – Aim high, show courage and hope to push against any barriers;
- Respect – Be considerate and respect the right of others;
- Integrity – If it’s not righ, do not do it. If it’s not true, do not say it;
- Service – We have a responsibility for the future and each other;
- Tenacity – Tough times don’t last, strong people do;
- Optimism – No pessimist discovered the secret of the stars or an uncharted land
- Learning – A commitment to lifelong development unlocks your full potential
