Temple (red)

“If we all put our minds to it, we can accomplish anything”

Temple students chose this motto as they felt it had a positive feel and one that Temple students could relate to in their every day life at Merchants’ Academy.

Head of Temple House:

Being head of Temple House is a role that I have very much enjoyed; I want all students to feel they identify with our House motto. Temple House is a collaborative team at Merchants’ Academy and through varied activities all students have contributed to our successes.  House colours are awarded for students showing great talent and commitment. Awarding students with house colours is a great part of being head of Temple. In Temple House we have talented musicians, sports men and women, artists and academics; we are a well-rounded House with a variety of different talent. We have had many successes over this year including victories in Inter-House sports events.

The year ahead:

In the last academic year Temple House have competed in Sports, Arts, Academic and Vocational competition.  More House events will be running in the new academic year. If you have any ideas for events, let me know at archie.baker@merchantsacademy.org.

This academic year we have planned to run an Inter-House arts competition. Details will be on the Temple House notice board and parents and guardians will be able to find more information nearer the event if they would like to attend.

Our chosen charity:

Temple pupils have chosen to support the Macmillan Cancer Trust as their House charity. They believe it is a worthy cause and are looking forward to help the charity as much as possible.

House Council:

Temple House have year leaders which have shown great skills and maturity organising teams, focus groups and charity events. Thank you so much to Temple students’ council.

International link:

We are currently looking to develop a potential link with a school in Korea. This is an exciting prospect for all Temple students as it gives them the opportunity to learn about how school and home life is for children from other parts of the world. Temple students will be sending and receiving correspondence to enhance their understanding of world issues.
