Lawford (blue)
“Be Your Best”
This is the motto that all Lawford students strive to follow each day at Merchants’ Academy. They realise that a positive outlook and attitude can really make an impact on their success in all aspects of school life. It also reminds us that the most important thing is to try our hardest in everything we do.
Head of Lawford House:
It is a real privilege for me to be part of Lawford, the House that is still leading the way in the House Points competition. I want to encourage all students to have their say and to take an active role in a range of activities within the Academy. I am not just looking for sporting stars; I also need creative individuals, writers and talented performers, as well as confident young leaders with plenty of ideas to be a part of the House Council.
The year ahead:
In the new academic year we’ll be building on our international links, rewarding achievement and success even further, and encouraging even more inter-house competitions. If you already have ideas for Lawford, then let me know and let’s continue to be the best House at Merchants’ Academy!
Coming up in the new academic year is an Inter-House arts competition. Do you have what it takes to represent your House in dance, drama, music, singing, or the creative arts? Look out for dates and information on the Lawford notice-board if you are interested in taking part.
Our chosen charity:
Lawford students have decided that their House charity will be the Teenage Cancer Trust. They decided it is a very worthy cause that they strongly want to support. Watch this space for further fund-raising plans and ideas!
House Council:
A big thanks to the group of Lawford student representatives who have attended council meetings so far; if you are interested in joining in, just look out for the date of the next meeting and bring lots of ideas with you!
International link:
We are currently developing a potential link with a school in Kenya. This will give students in Lawford house the chance to learn about life in other parts of the world. Students will have the chance to share ideas and experiences with those at the school. We will be staying in contact with them and finding out what they are doing during the academic year.
