Frome (green)
“One Team, One Dream”
As our motto suggests, we are a House that works together and supports one another towards the same objectives. As a House we have high expectations and want to do well. If we do not succeed straight away, we need to view this as a learning experience, from which we come back stronger. I believe a vision like this will really have an impact on a student’s Academy life. This will allow them to develop, and go into the real world as a strong-minded, well-rounded and successful individual.
Head of Frome House:
My role will be to establish the House system with the aim of making every student, staff member and parent feel a part of the House. I am also keen to take Frome to the top of the leader board and win numerous competitions throughout the year. Those of you who know me will already be aware of my competitive attitude and my ‘no cheat’ approach. With this in mind I look forward to all Frome members putting in their best efforts and taking pride in representing the top House.
Frome students are exceptionally talented, particularly in a practical manner, and always promote a healthy level of competition. This was proven with our first place success at Sports Day 2011, which we are all extremely proud of!
The year ahead:
There will be plenty of activities and competitions going on throughout the coming year. House points gained from all activities will go towards the House cup which will be presented at the end of the year. Frome came second overall in 2011, an extremely proud achievement! This year we are hoping to have many competitions going on including performing arts, sports and academic events. If you are looking to get involved see the notice board for events that will be coming up.
Charity:
In the summer, Frome students took part in a Sponsored Walk to raise money for the Pahar Trust - “A trust responsible for raising the funds necessary for and coordinating the construction of schools in remote areas in Nepal”. Frome students will be selecting a new charity for the up and coming year, so if anyone has any ideas please put them forward.
House Council:
The Frome House Council has done an absolutely fantastic job this year in organising events, and being the ‘voice of Frome’. Huge thanks to Rhys Beale, Holly Driscoll, Megan Dixon, Leah Fitton, Megan Thornhill, Kane Burgess, Dean Taylor, Charlieanne Alford, Maisey Rawlins and Billy Rudge for all their hard work.
International link:
We are currently establishing an International Link with a Kenyan School. Merchants’ Academy has been put into a bid to start a link with a school in Nairobi. This link will give our students the chance to learn about a different culture, and will enrich them with different ways of living. Students can be closely involved with raising funds for the school. We are very excited about the prospects that this link could bring to both staff and students.
