Welcome to The Merchants’ Academy website where you will find information for students, parents, staff and visitors.

For those new to Merchants’ I am delighted to introduce you to this vibrant, positive and purposeful Academy committed to ensuring all our young people are successful and happy during their time with us and are prepared for their future lives.

The Academy is co-sponsored by the Society of Merchant Venturers and the University of Bristol being independent of local authority control. Working together brings significant advantages and opportunities for our students.

High expectations

We are dedicated to serving our young people and every student is important to us. We will develop the ambition, confidence and potential of each of our students. We have high expectations and are committed to seeing that each one of our young people achieves their full potential, ready to take an active and responsible part in society. This is a stimulating, caring and orderly environment in which to learn and grow.

Opportunities to stretch and grow

We develop and stretch the talents and gifts each student has and support the areas of learning they find more difficult. There are endless opportunities for young people to achieve success within and beyond lessons. There are extensive co-curricular activities and our business links ensure students’ learning about enterprise teaches them the skills for life. This is a place where each individual has respect for themselves and others.

Support and intervention

We will closely track the progress of students and ensure they achieve more than they ever thought possible. There will be effective and prompt support and intervention when needed.

The staff and governors are highly qualified, experienced and dedicated to the development and progress of our students. The buildings, facilities and resources are exceptional.
